Hopatcong Schools Strategic Planning's 2nd Round Underway

School Superintendent Cynthia Randina says citizens shared their ideas for what they want the district to look like five years from now.

A group of residents interested in helping improve Hopatcong Borough Schools met Dec. 3 at Hopatcong Middle School for the district's second strategic planning meeting. Superintendent of Schools Cynthia Randina said the evening featured a strong showing of community members looking to contribute to creating the vision of what she calls "The New Hopatcong."

Participants were asked to split into break-out groups to examine the outcomes of the first meeting. They also were given the task of creating their version of where the school district would be in the future.

Randina said she was pleased with the result.

"When the groups reassembled, it was great to see the commonality of the ideas and the vision," she said. "It was another powerful display of the community uniting together to fulfill the goals of the 'New Hopatcong.'”

The findings of the group will be released when strategic plans are in final form, according to HBS. In the meantime, the planning process will continue, and the presentation viewed by participants is now available online. The next Strategic Planning meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the HMS library, 1000 Weldon Road.
