Hopatcong Reappoints School Board Secretary

Theresa Sierchio among a slew of staff appointments made for 2013-14.

Theresa Sierchio was reappointed board secretary Monday as the Board of Education completed its annual appointments.

Board president Clifford Lundin said even though the board now elects new members in November and holds the annual reorganization meeting in January, staff and other appointments for the next school year must be made in April.

Sierchio was appointed board secretary for 2013-14, and will also handle the following duties: purchasing agent; affirmative action officer; and compliance officer for the state’s new anti-bullying law; custodian of public records. In 2012-13, Sierchio was paid $126,062.

In other appointments, Kelly Ann McGann was appointed treasurer of school monies; and facilities manager Neil Piro was appointed integrated pest management coordinator and management officer for asbestos management, safety and health issues, air quality, chemical hygiene officer and right-to-know officer.

Dr. Robert Damico was appointed school physician at a yearly stipend of $12,000.
