Sparta, Hopatcong Schools Closed Friday Due to Snow

Both districts closed schools early Thursday in anticipation of the winter storm.

Due to the expected winter storm, Hopatcong Borough Schools announced Thursday evening that all public schools would be closed Friday. Shortly thereafter, Sparta Township Schools followed suit.

Both districts closed schools early Thursday in anticipation of the storm, which is expected to drop between 4 and 8 inches of snow in the area and feature near-blizzard conditions and extremely cold temperatures.

Non-essential government offices will be closed Friday as well, as Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency Thursday afternoon.
