'Dine Out' to Benefit Sparta Schools

Food purchases Monday and Tuesday will raise money for township schools.

The Sparta Education Foundation and local business Trellis have teamed up to raise money for township schools.

The foundation and business will be holding two "dine out" dates on Monday and Tuesday for residents to donate.

Trellis, a new phone application for iPhone and Androids, works with local Sparta merchants to let customers do everything from a ordering from a restaurant to signing up for a class at a nearby gym.

The restaurants will donate 10 percent of the proceeds of the meals purchased through Trellis to the foundation.

The "dine out" includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

According to a statement released by the foundation, Trellis owner by Kevin Kowalski approached the foundation to help them out the week of Thanksgiving.

"Lots of people don’t feel like cooking that week,” Kowalski said in the statement. "It’s a busy time for the food merchants throughout town, and this would be a great opportunity for people to try the app."
