Spring Musical, Board Meeting Ahead This Week

"Little Shop of Horrors" makes its way to the Hopatcong High School stage.

The Hopatcong Board of Education is in session this week, holding its first meeting since approving the 2013-14 budget in March.

That spending plan brought about a $65 tax hike for the average Hopatcong homeowner, with an overall expenditure of $35,339,000. While the district did receive more funds in state aid for the coming year than it did for the current year, it was still hard to overcome the massive decrease in .

The meeting will be held at the Board of Education Administration building on Windsor Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, and is open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend.

It’s that time of year again, as the spring musical season continues throughout the area’s high schools.

Beginning Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m., Hopatcong High School’s “Little Shop of Horrors” spring musical will take the stage for audiences to enjoy. A cast of nearly two dozen students will put on three shows over three days.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Refreshments will be served before the show begins and during intermission. The performance will be held in the Hopatcong High School auditorium.
