Sparta Defeats Ramapo, Advances to State Sectional Final
Sparta takes on River Dell for the 2013 NJSIAA North 1, Group 3 title at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m.
The Sparta High School football team continues forward in its quest for a state title. The Spartans earned a spot in the NJSIAA finals by taking down Ramapo High, 46-14, in the semifinals last Friday, the Star-Ledger reported.
The win avenged Sparta's 2012 loss at Ramapo's hands. The Spartan onslaught was led by running back Lucas Faria, who ran the ball 59 times for 378 yards and three touchdowns, the article said, adding that Faria, a junior, is now Sparta's all-time leading rusher and holds the school record for rushing yards in a single season, 2,116.
