5 Ways to Volunteer in Hopatcong
Because Hopatcong, like many communities, runs on the strength of its volunteers.
- Remember when that in January? The people who put out that blaze were your neighbors. Help them help the borough.
- Recently, the Scouts went on a clean-up mission, plucking trash from Hopatcong parks and Flora Avenue. The kids do stuff like this nearly every day. That, or they're learning from parents dedicated to showing them essential skills.
- You don't hear a lot about the CERT team, mostly because the relatively-quite borough doesn't often have full-scale emergencies. But CERT, run by Steve Millian, is always ready to help in a pinch, whether its checking on seniors during blackouts or helping secure flooded areas.
- Because at a certain age it becomes difficult to go food shopping. Most of us will get to that point someday. Start helping now, build karma for later.
- Like CERT, the ambulance squad doesn't get nearly the recognition it deserves. But these volunteers are dedicated to their crafts. And many have created lifelong friendships within the squad.
