if they are talking to another on duty officer or patrolman, it is possible that they areRead More discussing occurrences around the town. It is important for officers to be on the same page with each other and have a shared knowledge.

I had the impression that this was a local patch not state wide.

I think the snake doesn't actually stay in the same spot all the time. On Saturday night, inRead More Woodport Bay, my kids mentioned that the ducks kept jumping out of the water and flying onto the dock even though they were on it fishing, something ducks don't normally do. They said it was like they were spooked by something swimming underneath. (no snake sighting though). And we now found out that's the same night Tom Bush and his boatload saw the snake in the same Bay. And last night, without my neighbor 2 houses away knowing what my kids saw on Saturday night, she reported seeing the snake, Marine Police were there last night. Maybe the snake actually doesn't stay in one spot, I'm not famiiliar with their hunting and nesting habits, but it seems its been in woodport since the weekend, or on and off since then. Is it the DEP F&W or NJ Marine Police that are the ones to contact, and are collecting the sighting reports?

State Parks employees on the whole will not go outside of their comfort zone. The trash, drains,Read More varmints will go unchecked until someone gets hurt or attacked before you realize there is actually someone on duty. They draw a paycheck, right. So why do we have to hustle them out of their trucks or offices to get anything that is covered by their duties as government employees. I must say there are some Park employees that do their assigned duties.

Tammy!! I am such an idiot!! Thanks to you, I can now see the correlation between bad behavior,Read More not knowing where to throw used toilet paper, and being less fortunate than myself!! When I went to the Park, with my son, I was a single mother, without a car, trying to make ends meet. I had every right to take my child to the lake, to enjoy it, on my day off!!!! I was less "fortunate" than the "tourists" that arrive in their expensive vehicles (and probably on Welfare). I am not displeased with those that are not as fortunate as myself. I don't like people that do not respect the lake, its residents, and are slobs. BTW...congratulations on being 50!! In January, I'll be 70. Age doesn't make either of us smart or right. I was born & raised in NYC....I was raised to accept and be tolerant of all people especially those that are less fortunate.

Joe, I tolerate those that work & strive to make their lives better. My grandmother literallyRead More "came off the boat" in 1922. Her first priority was to become a citizen. She loved this country and was proud to be an American. I love this country because of her. She fed and helped to clothe the poor. I learned her values and, as I grew older, understood. why she did what she did. She had no tolerance for those that did not strive to work and help themselves to make their lives better. She worked two jobs to support her family. Ethics........

Michele: Your agenda in subduing mine. You're venting your frustrations by posting your advice alongRead More with the negative undertones about the Mayor. If you feel strongly about what you have stated, thats fine with me but I request that you please don't surface it into this platform as tool for you to vent. I appreciate your advise but the negative elements about the Mayor need not be present especially when you are addressing me. I'm more than happy with way things are going for us and wish you the very best of luck with what you are trying to achieve, however, I'm not looking for a pat on my shoulder or a mention in a town calendar. Most everyone in this town knows who we are and what we bring to the table. If you need me to explain further to help you better understand my position, then come to my store and I'll do so otherwise best wishes.

Yes, I do have frustrations with the Mayor since I have lived in this town for over 30 years and sawRead More a lot of great small businesses that I liked disappear in recent years. And the conversations that I had with them before they left had to do with taxes. Hopatcong wasn't budging to give them a break. I find it outrageous that the most wealthiest private business owner pays the lowest percentage in municipal taxes for their business properties but manages to get top billing in our Municipal Calendar for their charitable event. When you do the math you begin to realize the loss of commercial tax rateables from these properties gets passed on to our small businesses. The least our Mayor and Council can do is provide our small businesses the same perks in free publicity and brand recognition that they obligingly do for their favorite billionaire recreational business owners. It is more about them giving back to our small business owners who have been giving directly to our communities. My apologies for the rant on this happy and positive article. Hot dogs are not my favorite food but, I enjoy passing by your place with all the interesting signs and the interesting Hot dog eating group meet ups and I wish you continued success.
