Hopatcong Man Accused of Attacking Cops

Man allegedly said 'are you ready for fun?' before five officers detained him at headquarters.

A Hopatcong man resisted arrest and assaulted cops after responding to a reported disturbance on Windsor Avenue early morning Sunday, according to Hopatcong police. Police charged Daniel Walthour, 45, with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, as well as resisting arrest and obstruction after Walthour also allegedly needed five officers to detain him once he was at police headquarters. Police said Officer Gerald Mancuso and Lt. Robert Unhoch responded to a home on Windsor Avenue at 1:14 a.m. on Sunday after a report of a disturbance. Police: Juvenile Hits Cop, Resists Arrest

A juvenile threatened to run from home and struck a police officer, police said. Officer David Kraus responded to Coolidge Trail for a report of a mother saying her juvenile son was threatening to run away again and that he was on probation at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, police said. Kraus' intended to speak with the male about running away, police said. But when he arrived, the juvenile locked Kraus and his mother out of the house before cursing at the officer, police said. As the mother tried gaining entry to the home via the back door, there was a struggle between her and her son, and Kraus pushed his way into the home, police said. Cops: Man Assaults Officer After Driving Drunk

Hopatcong resident found under the influence and with marijuana after driving with lights off, police said.

A Hopatcong man assaulted a police officer after driving drunk without his headlights on, police said. Det. Ryan Tracey was on a motor vehicle stop when he saw a Harry Persadsingh's vehicle driving toward him on River Styx Road without his lights at 11:40 p.m. Friday, police said. So Tracey ended the stop and followed Persadsingh, 53, police said. When Tracey stopped Persadsingh, he smelled raw marijuana from within the vehicle, police said. Persadsingh then failed field sobriety tests, police said. A search of Persadsingh's vehicle revealed a clear plastic sandwich bag filled with marijuana, police said. Cops: Borough Resident Hits Man with Beer Bottle

A Hopatcong man struck another man with a beer bottle at a Byram Quick Chek early Saturday, Byram police said. Byram officers responded to a report of an assault at the convenience store at 2:27 a.m. Saturday, police said. Then officers saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspects' leaving the scene and stopped the car on Acorn Street, police said. The driver, Jim K. Gregor Jr., 21, of Hopatcong, failed field sobriety tests, police said. His passenger, Kyle K. Imroth, 22, of Hopatcong, had an open container of alcohol, police said. Both were arrested and brought to the Byram police department, police said. Police: Man Pulls Cane, Steak Knife in Fight

A fight the night before the Fourth of July sent two Hopatcong men to jail and a juvenile to a detention center, police said. Kyle Shalkowski, 23, and Francisco Torres, 19, were each charged aggravated assault, possession of weapons with an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. The juvenile was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon with an unlawful purpose underage drinking and disorderly conduct, police said. Police said they responded to a report of a fight on Francis Avenue. As a younger individual in this community i happen to know who the accused are and believe them to be menace's to society as well as quite a few more i can think of. And believe that these kids should be put away in prison because obviously these county jail trips are not doing the job   more ›
