If this isn't the epitome of a good time for kids nowadays, what is?
An old-school hip hop instrumental. Sun. Friends. A place to call your own. If that's not what the Hopatcong governing body had in mind when it established the Brant Field skate park years ago, it must be close. Despite all the hassle the skate park gets—and some of it is deserved as it can be a knucklehead hotbed—YouTube clips like these prove the park wasn't a bad idea at all.

Kids, grab your skateboards. After more than a month of its gates being locked, the Hopatcong skate park was opened Friday morning. Repairs to the ramps have been completed after several material shipping delays. "We took the locks off the gates and everything, the kids can go enjoy it now," Recreation Coordinator Sue Paricuck said. Just don't forget your helmets before riding in the park. Hopatcong's bike patrol was recently implemented and the police department will be actively monitoring Brant Park.

Hopatcong's Brant Park skate park is expected to open later this week, Recreation Coordinator Sue Parichuk said. The park has been closed for more than a month due to damages. Repairs have taken longer than anticipated due to difficulties shipping ramp materials, Parichuk said. Parts needed to fix the ramp had to be shipped from California, Parichuk said. "Once we get it, the [Department of Public Works] will put it together," she said. Let Patch save you time. "The Adventures of Sketchy C & Sexy G." Sounds like a "Saturday Night Live" sketch. Nope. They're a pair of skateboarding friends who have fun shredding area skate parks or, really, anywhere they can perform a trick on their board. And in this case, it's Hopatcong's Brant Park skate park. In the summer, the park becomes a oft-filled hangout where bikers and skateboarders can practice their extreme sports skills. It's rarely empty. But these two caught it on a good day and, armed with a video camera, showed off their skills.

Two kids. Lots of cool tricks. No falls!

Here's what Hopatcong officials probably had in mind when the Brant Park skating facility was built a few years ago. Two skaters—apparently Sketchy C and Sexy G—posted this clip on YouTube of them enjoying the park the right way—no fighting, no vandalism. Just working on their craft. Meaning: crazy tricks, lots of air and just plain fun. Only downside: Hopatcong law says helmets must be worn while skating at the facility. Aside from that, it's a feel-good clip. Warning: Might want to turn down the volume if you're watching at work. The music gets loud.
