Cops: Man, Slumped Over Wheel, Had Drugs

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man was slumped over his steering wheel with medications for which he didn't have a prescription, police said. Officer William Sutphen responded to the intersection of Hopatchung Road and Chincopee Avenue for a report of a driver asleep in his car at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, police said. Sutphen found 21-year-old Dan Lane of Hopatcong slumped over his steering wheel with his foot on the brake, police said. After Lane woke up, Sutphen found Lane to be intoxicated, but not from alcohol, police said. Sgt. Megan Antonello, a drug-recognition expert, gave Lane field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said. Lane possessed morphine sulfate and hydrocodone without prescriptions, police said. Police: Woman Drove Intoxicated on Xanax

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Stanhope woman drove erratically after taking anti-depressants, police said. Officer David Kraus watched 30-year-old Lacie Broyer swerve over the double-yellow line several times on Wills Avenue at 12:59 a.m. Tuesday morning, police said. Kraus found Broyer to be intoxicated, but not from alcohol, police said. Kraus, a drug-recognition expert, gave Broyer field sobriety tests, which she failed, police said. Kraus later learned Broyer had taken the prescription drug Xanax and other anti-depressants earlier, police said. Broyer was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to keep right, police said. She was processed and released to a family member, police said. Cops: Woman Tried Eluding Us, Hit Parked Car

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong woman tried eluding an officer pulling her over, only to crash into a parked car, police said. Officer James Bianculli saw driver Tanya McKevitt, 20, cross over double yellow lines while driving on Brooklyn Mountain Road early Monday morning, police said. When Bianculli turned around to stop McKevitt, she sped up and turned onto Wills Avenue, police said. McKevitt then turned off her headlights and pulled into a private driveway, police said. But while pulling into the driveway, McKevitt struck the homeowner's vehicle, police said. After McKevitt failed sobriety tests, she was arrested, police said. McKevitt was charged with obstruction of justice, driving while intoxicated, refusal to provide samples of her breath, reckless …

Cops: Man Drove Drunk on Lakeside Blvd.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man drove drunk on Lakeside Boulevard, police said. Officer Thomas Snyder saw a vehicle crossing the double yellow lines on Lakeside Boulevard at 11:57 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The driver, 46-year-old Shawn Lynch, pulled over in a nearby parking lot, police said. Lynch failed field sobriety tests, police said. Lynch was arrested and, after given two samples of his breath, he was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to keep right and maintenance of lamps, police said. Cops: Man Vomited, Passed Out Behind Wheel

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Mountain Lakes man vomited then passed out drunk behind his steering wheel, police said. Officer Richard Sadowski responded to Hopatcong Fire Co. No. 2 at the Indian Trail-Maxim Drive intersection on report of a suspicious person at 6:40 p.m. Friday, police said. When Sadowski arrived, he saw that 27-year-old Dustin Philburt had driven his vehicle up on a curb behind the firehouse, police said. Philburt was slumped over the steering wheel with vomit on himself and inside the vehicle, police said. Sadowski reached inside the vehicle, put it and park and turned it off, police said. Philburt was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and for driving without insurance. He was processed and released to a friend, police said…

Police: Drunk Driver Rear-Ended Car

A drunk man drove his pickup truck into the back a Hopatcong woman's vehicle while she was stopped at a red light, said. An officer responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the Lakeside Boulevard-Brooklyn-Stanhope Road intersection at 10:19 p.m. Feb. 5, police said. Nobody was injured, police said. James Conley was driving the pickup truck, police said. His breath smelled of alcohol and he was slurring his speech, police said. Conley soon failed a field sobriety test, police said. Conley then took a breath test to measure his blood-alochol level, but during the test he sucked on the mouthpiece rather than blowing into it, which caused the test not to register, police said. Man Pleads Guilty to Threatening Quick Chek Workers

A man pleaded guilty on Monday before Judge Peter Conforti at the Sussex County Courthouse to threatening to hurt workers at a Hopatcong Quick Chek, according to the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office. Alexander Lowenstein, 30, of Morristown, also pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance and driving while intoxicated, the prosecutor's office said. Lowenstein is scheduled to be sentenced March 16, the prosecutor's office said. Lowenstein was arrested on Sept. 20 after, police said, he requested four free cans of Red Bull, brandished a paddle and told workers he'd hurt them. Cops: Man on Xanax Crashed into Parked Car

A Hopatcong man drove the influence of depressants, smashed into a parked vehicle and left the scene, police said. An officer responded to a report of a hit and run on Geneva Trail around 1 p.m. Dec. 24, police said. When the officer arrived, he found a car with its front bumper ripped off and tire marks down the road, police said. The officer followed the tire marks to a car missing a wheel in Anthony Fowler's Vassar Trail driveway, police said. Fowler said he didn't know he hit another car and seemed surprised when told his car was missing a front tire, police said. Police: Man Drove Drunk into Yard

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Secaucus man drove drunk into the front yard of a Hopatcong woman's home, police said. Officers responded to a report of a car in a yard on Rapalyea Road around 1 a.m. Nov. 20, police said. A man and a woman were trying to push the car out of the yard, but it was stuck, police said. The driver, Javier Escobar, said he was following his GPS home from Totowa and it had led him off the road, police said. He admitted he had been drinking earlier in the night, and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. A breath test showed Escobar had a blood-alcohol content of .15 percent, or almost double the .08 legal limit, police said.
