Cops: Man Brings Pot on School Roof

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 21-year-old Landing man brought pot on the roof of a Hopatcong elementary school, police said. Officers investigated a report of people on the Tulsa Trail School roof Friday, police said. When they arrived, they found Robert Bitondo, Deane Faatz, 18, and two juveniles, police said. Bitondo had the odor of burned marijuana on him, police said. Officer Thomas Snyder went atop the roof and discovered a a homemade pipe and a small plastic bag containing marijuana, police said. Bitondo admitted it was his and that he ditched it when he saw cops, police said. Bitondo was arrested and taken to the Hopatcong police department, where he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of paraphernalia and criminal …

Cops: Man Busted for Pot in Friend's Car

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An officer found pot in a man's car, but the passenger said the drugs were his, police said. Officer David Kraus stopped a vehicle for going over the double yellow lines on Saturday, police said. The smell of raw marijuana emanated from the car, police said. Kraus' investigation revealed two small bags of pot in the vehicle's center console, police said. After the driver denied ownership of the drugs, Anthony D'Alesandro, 34, of Elizabeth, said the pot was his, police said. D'Alesandro also had two smoking devices used to smoke pot in his pants' pocket, police said. D'Alesandro was arrested and taken to the Hopatcong police department, where he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia…

It seems to me that there's a significant segment of the population that refuses to take responsibility for their own actions. If they get caught doing something illegal, they blame the authorities. "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime!" If a perp really believes their rights have been abridged, that's what the judicial system is there to determine. Cops: Woman Says Heroin, Pot Aren't Hers

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Sparta woman told a cop the pot and heroin found in her car weren't hers and she didn't know how the drugs got there, police said. Officer Anthony Cirri was pulling out of the Hopatcong police department when he saw Cary Gallo, 20, of Sparta, driving while talking on her cell phone around 11 p.m. Sunday, police said. Cirri smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana when he stopped Gallo's vehicle, police said. During a further investigation, Cirri found a pipe with burned marijuana residue in it, a plastic bag with green and orange vegetation—suspected to be marijuana, another small plastic bag with marijuana in it and a cigarette box with 11 used wax folds containing heroin residue, police said. Cops: Teen Planned to Sell Pot

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Pot was found in a 17-year-old's car after cops received a tip from his friend's mother, police said. A mom called the Hopatcong police department around 7 p.m. Thursday, telling officers she believed her son's friend was involved with drugs and was parked outside her home, police said. The car had left when patrols arrived, police said, but it returned a bit later. Two juvenile occupants were outside of the car, looking around, police said. The driver, 17, was searching for his marijuana grinder, which he left on the hood of the car, police said. Officer David Kraus' later found two clear plastic baggies containing marijuana, a metal pot grinder, a black scale used to weigh the drug and multiple small blue baggies used to package it, …

Cops: Man Had Cocaine, Warrants

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An investigation into a Hopatcong man with warrants turned up cocaine, police said. Officer James Bianculli saw Anthony Troyano, 38, driving out of Hopatcong via Lakeside Boulevard with one headlight not working, police said. So Bianculli pulled him over, police said. Bianculli learned Troyano had warrants out for his arrest, so he instructed Troyano to drive to the Hopatcong police department as he followed, police said. When they arrived at the department, a search of Troyano revealed metal screens, commonly used for smoking crack cocaine, in his pockets, police said. A further investigation turned up three small plastic bags containing cocaine, a wax for with trace amounts of power and several small razor blades throughout Troyano's …

Police: Couple Blamed Each Other for Pot

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A couple blamed each other for the bag of pot sitting in plain view in a Hopatcong apartment, police said. Officer David Kraus responded to the 4C's apartments on River Styx Road for a report of a dispute on June 15, police said. While investigating, he went into one of the apartments with Miryan Velasquez, 19, of Hopatcong. Kraus entered and saw a bag containing marijuana and two smoking pipes, police said. Velasquez said her boyfriend, 21-year-old Kelsey Stevens of Landing, owned the pot. But Stevens disputed that, saying the marijuana belonged to Velasquez, police said. Stevens and Velasquez each were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Stevens also posted bail on an outstanding motor vehicle warrant for $115 …

Cops: Man Overdoses, Drives on Lawn

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man didn't remember how he ended up driving onto a lawn after overdosing on prescription drugs, police said. Officer Thomas Snyder responded to Conklin Avenue for a vehicle on a lawn around 3 p.m. June 11, police said. When Snyder arrived, he found 22-year-old Michael Broderick slumped over the steering wheel pale, sweating and with thick white saliva on the edges of his mouth, police said. Brodrick was conscious but wouldn't speak, and his pupils were constricted and wouldn't respond to light, police said. Broderick was taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover by the Hopatcong ambulance squad, police said. At the hospital, Snyder asked for a blood specimen, police said. It was found that Broderick had taken instant-release pills…

Cops: Man Sat on Marijuana During Stop

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man tried hiding pot under his butt, police said. Officer James Bianculli stopped a vehicle for diving with a headlight out around 11:30 p.m. June 8, police said. When Bianculli approached the vehicle, a strong smell of cologne and raw marijuana emanated from it, police said. After an investigation, Bianculli discovered that 20-year-old Jude Kanaa was sitting on a bag of marijuana, police said. Kanaa was arrested and taken to the Hopatcong police department, where he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, police said. Cops: Man Pretended to be a Doctor

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Saddle Brook man called Rite Aid posing as a doctor to receive prescription drugs, police said. Officers arrested Matthew Fedroff, 32, outside the pharmacy after he picked up fraudulent prescription for alprazolam, used to treat anxiety disorders, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, police said. Fedroff was charged with two counts of fourth-degree fraud and third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance obtained by fraud. He was taken to Hopatcong Police Department, processed, charged and then transported to Sussex County Jail en lieu of $15,000 bail, police said. Officer William Sutphen got a call earlier in the morning from a Rite Aid pharmacist who believed he received a call from someone posing to be a doctor, police said. Then …

Cops: Man, Slumped Over Wheel, Had Drugs

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man was slumped over his steering wheel with medications for which he didn't have a prescription, police said. Officer William Sutphen responded to the intersection of Hopatchung Road and Chincopee Avenue for a report of a driver asleep in his car at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, police said. Sutphen found 21-year-old Dan Lane of Hopatcong slumped over his steering wheel with his foot on the brake, police said. After Lane woke up, Sutphen found Lane to be intoxicated, but not from alcohol, police said. Sgt. Megan Antonello, a drug-recognition expert, gave Lane field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said. Lane possessed morphine sulfate and hydrocodone without prescriptions, police said.
