Three Charged With Heroin Possession After Seat Belt Stop

Sparta police arrest trio on Route 15 south on Friday.

A couple from Tobyhanna, Pa., and a Florida man were arrested Friday afternoon on charges of heroin possession and other violations after they were stopped for allegedly not wearing seatbelts and having a cracked windshield, Sparta police said.  According to the police report, Sparta Cpl. Marc Rubino was on routine patrol traveling along Route 15 south at 2:38 p.m. when he allegedly observed a northbound red Dodge Durango with a large crack in the vehicle's windshield. The police report said Rubino began to follow the vehicle to observe its operation, when he said he saw that the male driver and front seat passenger were not wearing their seatbelts.  Police said the Durango was stopped a short time later. 19 Bags of Heroin Seized in Sparta Junction Bust

Three men allegedly found with open alcohol containers in car.

A trio of Sussex County men were charged with heroin possession after Sparta police said they found 19 bags of the drug in their car, along with open bottles of alcohol, on Jan. 12. Michael Scalici, 24, of Hamburg, the driver of the car, was charged with possession of heroin, possesion of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and issued several motor vehicle summonses. Michael Trivisani, 22, of Sussex, was charged with possession of heroin and Jason Guadano, 33, of Wantage, was charged with possesion of heroin and possesion of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Heroin, Knife Found on Newton Man, Sparta Cops Say

35-year-old drug and weapon charges from Friday evening motor vehicle stop.

A Newton man was caught with heroin and a knife following a motor vehicle stop Saturday, Sparta Police said. Jason Hanrahan, 35, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic syringes, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to a report supplied by Sgt. John-Paul Beebe. Sparta Police first responded to a call from a motorist about a possible drunk driver traveling on Route 15 North at about 7 p.m. Friday, Beebe said. Officer Brian Hassloch located Hanrahan's vehicle parked in the Park & Ride on Blue Heron Road where he found Hanrahan sitting in the driver’s seat drifting in and out of consciousness, Beebe …
