Murder Scene Photos Shown at Tedesco Trial

In the second week of Giuseppe Tedesco's murder trial, photos of bullets found in Alyssa Ruggieri's body are presented to the jury.

Graphic photos from the crime scene where borough resident Alyssa Ruggieri was fatally shot in 2010 were shown at the trial of accused murderer Giuseppe Tedesco on Wednesday, according to the New Jersey Herald.  In the second week of the murderl trial, the State Police Crime Scene Unit told the jury that five bullets were pulled out of Ruggieri's body, including three that were found in her skull, the NJ Herald reports. Ruggieri was shot six times by a .25 caliber Baretta gun owned by Tedesco. The sixth bullet was found on the floor near Ruggieri in her Durban Avenue home.  Detective Sgt. Rita Gallo said in court Wednesday that the bullets were removed during the autopsy performed on Ruggieri, and that the evidence proves that the gunshots…

Killing Was Self-Defense, Hopatcong Man Claims

Guiseppe Tedesco, charged with fatally shooting Alyssa Ruggieri in 2010, claimed self-defense in court Monday.

A Hopatcong man accused of killing 22-year-old borough resident Alyssa Ruggieri in 2010 claimed self-defense in court on Monday, according to a report on NJ.com. Giuseppe Tedesco is charged with murder, illegal possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in Ruggieri’s March 27, 2010 death. If convicted, he faces a sentence of 30 years to life. Tedesco's attorney, Anthony Iacullo, told the jury in Newton on Monday that Tedesco was defending himself when he shot and killed Ruggieri after she refused to celebrate his birthday with him, the report said. Hopatcong Murder Trial to Begin Next Week

Start date scheduled for Tuesday in Sussex County Superior Court.

A start date has been scheduled in the trial of a Hopatcong man accused of killing borough resident Alyssa Ruggieri in 2010. The trial of Giuseppe Tedesco will begin on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Sussex County Superior Court in Newton, according to the office of Judge Peter Conforti. Jury selection, which began Sept. 12, was completed more than a month after it began. The trial schedule runs to December, excepting Mondays and Fridays, and dates blocked out by Conforti’s other court duties and other contingencies. Tedesco, of Hopatcong, is charged with murder, illegal possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in Ruggieri’s March 27, 2010 death. Jury Selected in Hopatcong Murder Trial

No start date set more than a month after selection began in case.

NEWTON–The trial of Giuseppe Tedesco, accused of killing Hopatcong resident Alyssa Ruggieri in 2010, moved one step closer to starting with the selection of a jury. But no date has yet been set to hear opening arguments in Sussex County Superior Court, said Superior Court Judge Peter Conforti’s office Tuesday. Conforti is scheduled to meet Wednesday with Sussex County Assistant Prosecutor Seana Pappas and Tedesco’s attorney, Anthony Iacullo, to sort out the remaining pre-trial issues. The outcome of that meeting could determine  when the trial would begin before the jury, with one possible date being Thursday. Jury selection began Sept. 12. Hopatcong Murder Trial Expected to Begin in Mid-October

Assistant prosecutor reportedly said trial could last until late December.

Opening arguments in the trial of accused killer Giuseppe Tedesco may not begin until about a month after jury selection began in Sussex County Superior Court, according to a report. Sussex County Assistant Prosecutor Seana Pappas said the trial may not begin until the middle of October, with it expected to last until late December, according to a report by The Star-Ledger. Tedesco is charged with murder, illegal possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the March 27, 2010, death of Alyssa Ruggieri. The allegations were placed on the record during a January pre-trial conference hearing during which Tedesco formally rejected the state’s plea offer of a 30 year prison sentence on the murder charge.

Jury Selection Begins in Hopatcong Murder Trial

Report says selection could take until Sept. 20

A week after a plea request by the defense was rejected, jury selection has begun in the trial of accused killer Giuseppe Tedesco, according to a report by the New Jersey Herald. Tedesco is charged with the March 27, 2010, death of Alyssa Ruggieri. According to the report, 58 potential jurors were brought into Sussex County Superior Court on Wednesday to begin the process of selecting 15 sworn members. The report also said the process could take until Sept. 20, and that a motion for a venue change by Tedesco's attorney has been tabled until the 58 could be questioned. NEWTON–A week before the murder trial that could send his client to jail for 30 years, the attorney for accused killer Giuseppe Tedesco, asked the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office if the state would discuss a plea of aggravated manslaughter, a query that was rejected. Tedesco, of Hopatcong, is charged with the March 27, 2010, death of Alyssa Ruggieri.
