Several hundred expected to attend event Sunday that will include musical performances, raffles, food and more to benefit residents who lost homes from storm.
Just over a month after Superstorm Sandy caused severe damage throughout Hopatcong, the borough is coming together to raise money for those victims still suffering from the aftermath. The Hurricane Hopatcong - We Hit Harder benefit will bring the community together at Pavinci's Italian Grill on Sunday to raise money for the three families in the borough whose homes were destroyed from the storm. The event, which will go on from 3 to 9 p.m., will be filled with family-friendly activities, including music entertainment from local musicians, giveaways, door prizes, and more. Local musician and Hopatcong resident Robin DeLorenzo organized the event, after she had the idea to put her music and marketing skills together, and help the town out. …

Italian restaurant serves happy hour all day, has live band at 9:30 p.m.
With the holiday season now officially here, Pavinci Italian Grill is getting into the spirit by continuing its Thanksgiving traditions. Two days after one of borough's favorite Italian restaurants held its annual Thankgiving Eve Pajama Party, the restaurant will be offering Black Friday specials all day long. On Friday, the restaurant will be running happy hour specials all day from noon until close at 2 a.m., and offering one dollar off all drinks. Assistant manager Erica Rodriguez said the local band Street Hassle will also be performing at 9:30 p.m. Rodriguez said that the restaurant, much like the whole borough, suffered from from Sandy after losing 12 days of buisness, but it is now back up and running. Two Hopatcong groups. One fundraiser. A whole lot of fun. Pavinci Italian Grill will host a wine-tasting benefit for the Hopatcong Pound Project and the Hopatcong Community Garden at 7 p.m. July 10. The $15 tickets also include food and a chance to hear updates on each of the projects. "It'll be a great night," Hopatcong Community Garden organizers Jennifer Barone said. We too volunteered our time at this event and it was a packed house. I did the community proud to come together. We have all lost so much. I had no work, and I agree before Christmas it is difficult, we lost food, we borrowed a generator after a week and spent hundreds of dollars of gas that we can not get reimbursed for because we did not have receipts. So what? We managed, we are all struggling… more ›
