More than any other day of the year, music sets the mood on Valentine's Day. However, you want to set the right mood or else romance could turn to ridicule and you could find yourself single. This said, avoid adding these 14 love songs to your Cupid's day playlist at all costs. Aerosmith's “I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing” Remember “Sweet Emotion”? “Walk This Way”? You will want to run away from this unfathomably bad tune that makes some Michael Bolton sound like Metallica. Why the Toxic Twins took this Diane Warren tune for the forgettable flick “Armageddon” … there are no words. Alicia Keys & Usher's “My Boo” So much for the whole being greater than the sum of its chart-topping parts. Outside of being the theme song for a junior-high prom, …

Our top picks to set the mood tonight, from Adele to Whitney Houston.
As much as the candles, candy, and flowers, setting the mood on Valentine's Day is all about selecting the right songs. Don't believe us? We witnessed nuptials where the first dance was a Metallica tune ... and watched their union dissolve inside of two years. Since we all hope that love lasts, Patch has produced a playlist of the 100 most romantic songs that will, with a little luck, make this a memorable night. We have the classics (Al Green, Barry White, Sam Cooke) and the contemporary (Adele, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones) covered here. Without further adieu, our 100 songs that are the musical equivalent of getting struck by Cupid's arrow: If there are any songs on this list you disagree with, or others you would add, please share in the …

Hopatcong students made sure New Jersey veterans had an extra special Valentine's Day. Tulsa Trail students fashioned handmade valentines to be delivered to veterans at Lyons VA Hospital or East Orange VA Medical Center. "Students wanted to express to the veterans that their sacrifices have not been forgotten," teacher Michael Neu said. Neu said the Valentines for Veterans program was coordinated with U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen’s (R-11th Dist.) office. What do you think of the program? Patricia Webster has high hopes for Valentine's Day. So does Samantha Prestifilippo. Hers, however, are a little different. Both are Hopatcong florists. But Webster, owner of Get Potted, wishes for a busier Valentine's Day than last year while Prestifillippo, owner of Presto Personal Gardens, Flowers and Gifts, won't mind if things slow down a bit, as long as some Hopatcong High School seniors raise enough money to eventually have a blast. Webster said Get Potted didn't quite see the returns it desired on Valentine's Day in 2011 due to a sluggish economy and the holiday falling on a Monday, which, she said, gave many couples reason to celebrate during the weekend prior. But with Valentine's Day on a Tuesday this year, Webster said Get …

He loves his mother. That's for sure. With Valentine's Day about a week away, we thought it'd be a good time to share with Hopatcong this clip of a borough boy telling—no, screaming—that he loves his mother via microphone over the computer. Because, really, who hasn't felt like doing that? The clip, called "Rabeet Saying I Luv You," is tagged "Hopatcong," along with several other videos posted by user loverabeet. Equally precious? The face of his younger brother while he listens along. How cute is this video? Tell us in the comments.
Because the big day's right around the corner.

Brendan: With my thrash leanings, I’m not much of a hip hop fan, but I took a listen to Brother Ali’s “Shine On.” You’re right, it is a sweet song. Best of all, none of that dreadful keening I love to hate!   more ›
