VIDEO: Kid Sinks Incredible 1-Handed Shot

And then reacts accordingly.

Go deep! That's what you'd expect to hear from a kid attempting a football pass. Except BroAwesomBros don't do football. They do baseketball. Specifically, trick shots like these. Using Hopatcong High School's gym as his venue, the student looks into the camera and belts out the requsite, "Bro, awesome," before sinking this incredible one-hander.

Video: Whoa! Man Hovers Over Lake Hopatcong

He doesn't have super powers. But he might have $100,000 to burn.

Steve Ellis couldn't believe it. As the regional superintendent of the state's northern parks watched the video, his eyes widened. "Now I've seen it all," Ellis said. What did he see? A man hovering above Lake Hopatcong. Well, not exactly. The man was using a water-powered jet pack to propel himself over and around the lake, causing boaters to crane their necks at the spectacle. A company that manufactures such equipment, MS Watersports GmbH, calls its product the JetLev Flyer. The machine—powered by a 250-horsepower, four-stroke engine—costs $99,500, according to the company's website. What do you think of the machine? Tell us in the comments.

He is awesome. We loved watching him. He was very careful of his suroundings/safety. It was just amazing to watch. We would love for him to come back. I have been dreaming of trying it myself. Maybe we can all pull for a rental center?!?!   more ›

Video: 3 Girls Fly Off Water Tube

There are ways to have fun on Lake Hopatcong. Rank this one among the more dangerous.

Going. Going. Gone. There are plenty of ways to have a good time on Lake Hopatcong. Among them? Hanging with family on a boat, swimming with your friends, taking it easy and suntanning. And then there's the time-honored tradition of overloading a watertube, speeding and watching your pals get whipped into the water one after another. This short YouTube clip features about 20 seconds of stomach-churning speed before the girls get dumped into the lake. And remember: While this looks fun, be safe out there.

VIDEO: That's Just Ridiculous

Another incredible basketball shot from BroAwesomeBros of Hopatcong.

Sitting on a chair? Looking away from the hoop? One-handed? No problem. In this YouTube clip, Dillon DelRosso of Hopatcong's BroAwesomeBros as he sinks another of the group's awesome trick shots in the Hopatcong High School old gym. No, maybe this one isn't as impressive as this one. But it's up there.

Hopatcong Kid Sinks Crazy Trick Shot

With school out, athletes have more time to show off.

The Hopatcong Globetrotters? Last week, we watched a Hopatcong teen sink an improbable basketball shot in his backyard. Now three borough kids put together a YouTube clip in which they drain some ridiculous jumpers from well beyond the arc.

VIDEO: 'From Sussex & I Know It'

Does the clip accurately portray life in Sussex County?

Pop duo LMFAO landed a club hit with the rambunctious and infectious "Sexy and I Know It," spawning hundreds of covers and spinoffs. One might hit close to home for Hopatcong. In the YouTube clip above, a pair of residents eschew the dance floor for a barn, leather pants for overalls. The result? "From Sussex and I Know It." Does the pair's video accurately portray Sussex County life? Or at least the perception of it? Tell us in the comments. Let Patch save you time. An earlier version of this post said the video was produced by "Mr. Segale's Class." I went with that as the credit because that was the username that uploaded the video. It was, in fact, produced by senior Julissa Gonzalez.   more ›

VIDEO: 'Bro, Awesome' Basketball Trick Shot

Hopatcong resident DJ Ross drains improbable backyard bucket.

Whoa. Hard to muster up any other reaction after watching D.J. Ross of Hopatcong loft a pint-sized basketball about 30 feet into the air only to bank off a little backboard and fall through a tiny hoop in the Youtube clip above. Then Ross, understandably, thrusts up his arms in triumph as a girl in a pool screams, "Oh my God! Mom! He made it!" Maybe we all should say, "Bro, awesome," before our next jumpshot. VIDEO: 30 Seconds of a Lake Hopatcong Sunset

Does it get much better?

Hopatcong had it good last week. The weather was in the high 50s for most of the days. Sun shined. It looked almost like spring. Apparently somebody on YouTube noticed. Check out this short clip of a sunset on Lake Hopatcong. Uploaded rather recently, we think it was during our spell of warm weather. Where's the best place to catch a Lake Hopatcong sunset? Tell us in the comments.

Blast from the Past: Lake Hopatcong 1958

A family's home movie from more than half a century ago.

Talk about a blast from the past. This YouTube clip shows a side of Lake Hopatcong rarely seen nowadays. Mostly because the footage was shot in 1958—more than half a century ago. First, you might realize what's changed between then and now. The outfits. The hairstyles. Even the beach isn't instantly recognizable—they're definitely not at the Hopatcong State Park. It's questionable they're even at one of the few lake associations in the borough today. But then you might realize what hasn't changed. Family fun. Laughing. Kids with limitless energy splashing throughout the lake.
