ReplyThe sad thing is Mr. Arrogant doesn't care about anybody's pain and suffering but his own. Hopefully when he gets to Big Boy Prison he will get that chip knocked right off his shoulder---with any luck it will be from behind while he is bent over.

On the article Grants Help Hopatcong With Roadwork, Walking Path

ReplyBrian his eyes are open, he is reading with bi-focals. That being said, why are Durban Ave. and Hopatchung Rd. being done AGAIN while the Hills section goes neglected AGAIN? A few roads around Jefferson Trail were paved but Jefferson Trail was not and it is desperately needed. I understand the issue with cars on the road and no driveways but I'm sure the owners would gladly park by the firehouse for one day in exchange for not having to wear a neck brace when leaving and returning home. Don't even get me started on Modick Park. Just how much above the grant money are we going to have to pull out of our collective *sses ? I am all for improvements but the fact is there is a walking path there that I have heard NOBODY complaining about and we don't have money to toss around.

On the article Sparta Asks: Where is Service Electric Cable TV?

Reply"Councilman Jerry Murphy has said previously that the contract calls for periodic meetings about service.
“This is why we wanted a two-year contract,” he said Tuesday. “So we could discuss issues like this. But they insisted on a 10-year contract.”
Township attorney Thomas Ryan said Tuesday the cable company has indicated it could meet at one of the two May council meetings.
Previously, Ryan said, the legal counsel for the cable company asked to meet in executive session with the council to discuss the complaints, but was told the matter would be discussed in a public session." Isn't that refreshing? In Hopatcong they would be granted their executive session without hesitation.

Hi Ed---I happen to know of quite a few people who don't talk to immediate family members and haven't for years. Some in my own family. It is not unusual for there to be rifts among family members. I'm sure it's not limited to American families. Perhaps the rift among this family was some member's extremist religious beliefs. Perhaps some members, despite the many opportunities afforded them here, had disdain for Americans and the others were just happy to be here and had no issues with Americans and that caused the division. It is also not unusual for a person to be ostracized from a family for marrying out of the family religion or race. That being said, the parents and the aunt need to take their son/nephew back to their home country, bury him, and stay there. You flee your country and come here for a better life and turn around and verbally spit on America? The should not be welcome here any longer.

ReplyI live on one of Hopatcong's main roads and I often sit on my front porch and I would say that at least half of the drivers (of ALL ages) are either talking on their phones or looking down at their phone. I also have to say that in front of my house is room to pull over and at least once a day somebody does pull over to use their phone.

On the article Hopatcong to Improve Water And Sewer System
Tammy

ReplyHi Joanne-I would much rather pay to maintain my well and septic system than pay the sewer fees. The sewers are $322.50 per quarter. That is almost $1300.00 per year. Plus the initial hook-up cost. Are you under the assumption those with sewers get some sort of a break on our taxes? We do not.

ReplyMichele- I understand you being defensive as you are often "attacked" while blogging and commenting on the Patch. However, I have always either kept my opinions to myself or have been supportive of you and even when not in agreement with you I am always respectful. I have not "twisted" anything. "Twisting" infers that I manipulated your words and used them against you in a negative fashion. This is not the case. You asked if he "was always crazy like this" which suggests even as a child and then you stated you remember hearing he had behavior problems as a teenager. It is not far fetched for me to think you were lumping behavior problems with being "crazy". Also, Mr. Tedesco would have never walked into a public place and went on a shooting rampage. That would have taken a certain amount of balls because one of those people might have a gun and take him out, he prefers his victim home alone with no weapon. Mr. Tedesco did not just decide to shoot a random person, he had a reason (in his mind) for going after his victim. In closing, I am a call it like I see it kind of girl and being politically correct couldn't be further from my mind. I thought you might be open minded enough to appreciate somebody respectfully and kindly pointing out to you that it is unfair to lump childhood/teenage behavior problems with "crazy". It appears I am mistaken.

ReplyMichele-There are many things that go into behavior problems in children and teens. Insanity is rarely one of them. It is unfair of you to say that a child/teen with behavior problems is crazy. This person is not insane. He is a spoiled man-child who does not like being told no. Watch the videos on NJHerald.com and you will see for yourself his attitude towards authority, especially a woman in authority.

I grew up in Hopatcong when there was even less to do. We entertained ourselves all day long. We pretty much stayed within a two block (can you tell I grew up in the Heights where there are actually semi-blocks) radius of our houses and that radius became larger as we got older. We rode bikes, we rode skateboards, we played kickball, we swam in each other's pools and searched for tadpoles in the brooks. Our parents actually knew each other because they bothered to say hello and get to know one another. Everybody looked out for everybody's kid. The result of that was that we rarely stepped out of line because if you did you got a "look" or a talking to from every parent along your way home. I don't understand this need for kids to be constantly entertained. We spent many hours sitting by the brooks just talking or even not talking. It never occurred to us to spend the day inside watching movies or playing video games. Rainy days were torture because we were stuck inside.
