I am tired of these stupid skewed reports! My kids have and are thriving in the Hopatcong school system. Jeesch Patch, must you post crap like this? This negativity helps no one!

ReplyJason, thanks for the heads-up. I was at the BOE meeting where the new law was discussed. Again, it would just be nice - for a change - to have some positive aspects of the school written about!

ReplyMr. Daigle, next time please headline a story like this with something positive like, "Pretty clean" track record for Hopatcong school's bullying reports. You could have easily swapped the headline and subhead. People often won't get past the headlines and will then take it the wrong way. The Hopatcong School System needs to be recognized for the great things it has accomplished and the press needs to stop bullying it with negative press!

ReplyJeez Michele, take a chill pill. A crime was committed and you are bashing a "landholder" that does plenty of good things for the town of Hopatcong (and countless others.) I hope the spill had no real impact on the environment. It's a beautiful area. I'm glad a hazmat team came out for the clean up, regardless of how it was funded.

Reply"Any child who wanted a letter, could get a letter." . . . While a letter from the Principal or even the Superintendent might sound good, it doesn't cut it if the university wants letters from particular areas of study, such as math or science. Most kids reached out to these teachers who know them well enough, and long enough to acquire a truly personal letter. Glad it's over, but the whole mess has tarnished how parents feel about certain teachers and definitely the Teachers Union.

Fair enough Jason, but to me it's crap. Nothing but negative information. And to compare us to Sparta? What the heck! Different demographics. How about you compare us to a HS in Kentucky? Dropping (again) in the ranking is the truth and that totally stinks. The task force is a task farce. The school board and the superintendant need to address the problems NOW and we are really tired of their excuses. Budget shortcomings, union BS, hiring issues, please! My point is. . . How about an article on some of the kids that are in the top of the class and their aspirations. Did you know there are quite a few NJ Scholar Athletes in the HS school this year? How about in May you post about the great things that come from this town. News on positive things happening here. Sport programs, benefit races, charity events, teacher spotlights. Humm. . .kind of like the old Patch, when it first started and it generated a nice positive community vibe. Seems so often these things apparently aren't news worthy. Ya wonder why so many people don't go on patch anymore is because of all the negativity. Let Newsweek & NJ Monthly report their own stinking reports!
