Franklin McCoy, Longtime Sparta Resident, Dies at 89

Franklin McCoy spent his career as a self-employed carpenter and was the father of three.

Franklin McCoy, a self-employed carpenter who retired in 1990, died Monday at his daughter's home, according to a notice on the Goble Funeral Home website. He was 89.

The New York City native was raised in Bergenfield and moved to Sparta in 1977. He was predeceased by his wife Ann in 2004.

McCoy is survived by sons Charles McCoy of Ridgefield Park and John McCoy of Napa, Calif. and daughter Jennifer Mohr of Sparta; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., with an 8 p.m. funeral service.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Franklin McCoy's name to the Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 350 Sparta Ave., Bldg. B Suite 2 Sparta, N.J. 07871.
