Over $1K of Jewelry Stolen, Pawned by Roommate, Cops Say

Hopatcong police report a 28-year-old resident pawned off stolen jewelry.

A Hopatcong man has been arrested and charged with theft in connection with stolen jewelry in town, Hopatcong Police Lt. Thomas Kmetz said.

A resident came into the Hopatcong Police Department reporting jewelry stolen from her home earlier this month, Kmetz said. The victim said she shared her home with Christopher Onnen, 28, Kmetz said.

Police then looked at photographs of jewelry that had recently been pawned by Onnen in the area and found it matched the description the victim was describing, Kmetz said.
